During a visit to a farmer in Tilly (Eure) on Tuesday 11 June, Sevépi shared its experience and ambitions in deploying Javelot technology among its storage members.
"Collecting cereals and storing them are two different jobs", said Arnaud Reignier, Sevépi's storage manager, during a visit to a member's premises in Tilly (Eure) on Tuesday 11 June. To help its 300 storage farmers rise to the challenge of grain conservation, the cooperative, which operates in the Eure, Yvelines and Val-d'Oise regions, has set up a partnership with the French Agricultural Research Centre (CRCA).Agritech Javelot.
As a reminder, this young company announced at the beginning of the year that it was launching a new distribution model dedicated to on-farm storage through cooperatives and wholesalers.
Double the number of farmers with storage facilities
Temperature probes of Javelin implanted in the grains allow, via the platform Store&saveThe automatic control system ensures effective cooling of the grain, preventing the development of insects and mould. Automatic control ensures effective cooling of the grain, preventing the development of insects and mould.
It was essential for us to offer our storage farmers the chance to become more professional in this area," explains Arnaud Reignier. We began by raising awareness among members who were aware of their recurring storage problems, as well as those who were aware of the importance of quality storage to avoid wastage. Sevépi has already equipped all 25 of its industrial silos with this digital solution, and plans to double this number over the next two years. To date, 10,000 tonnes of grain are monitored in this way.
20 to 30 % energy savings
"I quickly realised that we needed to pay close attention to grain ventilationsays Sébastien Boitte. I started by ventilating the old-fashioned way, i.e. by turning on the fan when I thought it was the right time, and then I equipped myself as I went along.
On the advice of his Sévépi cooperative, the producer invested 4 years ago in Javelot connected probes (low-frequency network) and since last year, it has opted for the global monitoring system that combines thermometric probes with the automatic ventilation control.
With the Store&save platform, Sébastien Boitte can monitor the temperature of its cereal stocks in real time from your phone or computer. And according to criteria defined by the producer, ventilation is triggered only when necessary. The aim is to ensure optimum cooling of stocks, and so prevent the development of insects and mould.
